Schengen ETIAS: The Honest Launch Timeline for Travelers

The European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) has slipped repeatedly since 2022. The current operational target follows the Entry/Exit System (EES) rollout, which itself is phased.
What ETIAS will require
A short online application, a small fee, and approval valid for three years or until your passport expires. It applies to visa-exempt visitors entering any of the 30 Schengen-area countries.
Who should pay attention now
US, Canadian, UK, and Australian passport holders. There is no application portal yet — be wary of any site claiming otherwise.
